KONA KITTY'S HIBISCUS COLLECTION
Wow! Look at this new one to my collection! Mom went to the West Hawaii Water Garden Society meeting and here was this beautiful flower at the meeting!
KONA KITTY loves the hibiscus flowers! Scroll on down.....

Just check out these great blossoms!
I feel so lucky to be surrounded by such beauty and color!
These yellow with the red center do not have any scent - I just appreciate them for their color and freshness.
This double white hibiscus is actually a soft ivory, with a blush tint along the veins.
It is unusual because of the ruffles; the flower is not open like many hibiscus are.

Here's another white hibicus, with the traditional five evenly spaced petals with a blush tint, and pinkish red center.
Compare this single white hibiscus with the "double white" above in shape and form.
These all yellow hibiscus are something else!
ALL YELLOW! NOT A TOUCH OF ANOTHER COLOR!
This photo shows how the five petals are almost perfectly symetrical, and slightly ruffled on the edges.
I'm pretty entranced with this all yellow hibiscus.....

This yellow hibiscus with the red center is one of my favorites.
Such a juxtaposition of colors - the yellow and the red!
You'll see hedges of this hibiscus, the STATE FLOWER OF HAWAII, all over West Hawaii.

Mom's friend brought this small, precious, and unusual orange hibiscus called "Hibiscus saintjohnianus"
We really have to take care of this one - it came from the Na Pali coast of Kaua'i and is the smallest hibiscus I have ever seen.
The above photo shows the intricate nature of "Hibiscus saintjohnianus" and is larger than the actual blossom.

This light yellow-orange ruffled hibiscus is different from many others in that it has a white - instead of a colored - center.
The light yellow and orange look as if they have been painted with a water color brush.
These petals have more body, are stiffer, and are not as delicate as the all yellow, or white with red-pink center hibiscus.
If you want to immerse yourself into a hibiscus, here's your chance! Jump right in the center!

Fresh from the garden after a nourishing rain!
The underside of this red-orange-yellow hibiscus is as attractive as the top side.
These petals are much stiffer than many other hibiscus, thus they are holding their shape inward, rather than opening and flopping outward.
Note: Mom is glad that we got the above photos of this almost multicolored hibiscus; the plant was fine, and then suddenly it died. Mom and I are sad.
Just look at this precious one! A lovely dark red color, going deeper to very dark and velvety in the center - and the contrast of the yellow pollen!
And I love how it is ruffled like a petticoat at the edges!
I'll be adding more wonderful, colorful HIBISCUS to this collection as time allows!
Check back!
